A few months ago this unit started to leave what looks like soap residue on outside of dishes & grainy material on inside of cups, bowls. I had a repairman look at it & he cleaned it (I watched him , it didn’t seem very dirty) & said to try different soap etc. This didn’t help.
What are likely causes of this? I’d like to be informed before I get another repairman. Maybe even fix it myself if possible.

That article just says to use a phosphate addtive, but I don’t see why it just recently started having problems.
because the detergent companies just recently had to change their formulas not even 3 months ago.
I took it apart & noticed this part called the ACCUMULATR has a thin plastic membrane that has become unglued along one of the 6 sections. could that be causing the problem?

In case anyone is interested, I fixed it temporarily with superglue & seems to work now. Will probably order a replacement part.
