The timer will not time in the automatic timing cycle. I replaced the timer and the problem still is there. I’m not sure if the resistor could be bad or if one of the thermostats is bad.
I would say you have part of the heating element not working. if you have an amp meter this would be easy to check.go to the back where the plug enters the dryer, there may be a cover you can open. Place amp meter over the heavy[ i think] black or orange wire While dryer is going this should show at least 23 amps if heater is ok. If only one side of the element is working it will only show about 15 or 16 amps. The heating element should be good before you can have the automatic cycle working. If element has an open coil it will NOTwork.
Abbie, this was the problem, and once I replaced the heating coil the timer started working. thank you for your input.
