Bosch On/Off Switch Behavior

I’m trying to troubleshoot a power problem with my Bosch SHU43C07UC/22 dishwasher. If I’m doing things correctly, there is power to the unit (by checking at the junction box where the romex cable attaches to the unit) but no power to the control unit (by checking the purple and gray wires going from the door interlock to the control unit).

When I remove the on/off switch for testing, I find three sets of contacts. Two of them work normally and the third set acts like a momentary switch. It only has continuity when you hold the switch in, not when you release it (in either position). My question is, is this normal behavior? Or should all of the switch contacts show regular on/off operation?

Thanks.

I found the troubleshooting guide for this dishwasher in another thread and in it, there was a note indicating that one of the contacts on the switch is indeed a momentary one.

I also figured out that I wasn’t checking properly for power to the control unit. The control unit definitely has power, but it doesn’t light up and the washer is completely dead.

Is it safe to assume, as indicated in another thread, that if you have power to the control unit and no lights or action, then it is a faulty control unit? I hope so, as this is the only part of the dishwasher that is still under warranty.

Do I need to check out the rest of the components to see if a problem with one of them is what caused the control unit to fail? I was going to check the resistance of the other components shown in the troubleshooting guide, but the diagram for the SHU43 bears no resemblance to my unit. The wire colors are very different.

Thanks!

If there is proper power to the control unit and it does nothing then the control unit is the first failure suspect.
