Thanks joe, i’ve cleaned the vents well and always clean the door vent each time i use the dryer. the dryer has no option to choose either a quick cooling or an anti-crease cycle. occassionally the timer rings, but rarely, so maybe it works sometimes. i usually smell the scorched clothes but then its too late. i set the dryer using 30 or 40 min. and have stopped using the auto dryer cycle, thinking i have more control. i also select the low temperature push button. the dryer is stacked on top of the washing machine. i’m not sure what you mean by the heater element being shorted to ground. p.s. it wasnt the repairman who mentioned the cool down cycle, it was the owners manual. the repairman specializes in repairing Asko appliances. i hope this additional info helps.
