Any Need to Lubricate the Heating Element Seals on a repair?

Sears recommends lubricating the seals of a newly installed heating element with rinse aid. What is the purpose of this and is it necessary?

Lubricate the seals on the leads of the new heating element with a small amount of rinse aid. Push the leads of the new heating element through the holes in the back of the tub. Attach the mounting clips inside the tub to the new heating element.

Usually this is done so the seals will not grab and twist as you tighten the nuts.

It is not necessary as long as you are careful.
