I’m trying to fix a freinds dryer, the vents have been cleaned thouroghly.
Upon arrival I turned on empty dryer and it was heating fine, I turned it off and back on, and still heated, approx. 10 minutes. So I had some wet clothes put in, and the dryer went cold, a couple minutes into the cycle it warmed slightly but went cold. Took out clothes, turned dial to diferent setting and it started to heat up again. I suspected the thermostat, there are 4 terminals on it, 2 g show continuity and the other 2 dont. whats happening here?:o
2 of the connections are the contacts, the other 2 are an internal heater used to change dryer’s temperature. Usually 6,000 to 8,000 ohms.
Thanks Denman, I checked the the other two terminals and it showed 480 with the meter set on 20k , is this good and would this cause my problem?
If you provide a Model Number I may be able to find out what it is supposed to be.
the model # lgb6400kq0, Thanks again

Looks like the heater should be 2,000 to 4,000 ohms
Not sure how the readout read but I would say the reading is 480 ohms so it is way too low.
My meter would read 480 ohms as 0.48 on a 20K scale
Did you remove at least one wire from it just to ensure you are not reading an alternate/parallel circuit path.
