220v 60hz drain pump

Hi

I moved from The Netherlands to Montreal Canada and brought my washer machine from The Netherlands. To run it here in Canada I’ve bought a step up transformator to convert the voltage from 110v to 220v.

The washer is running fine, but the drain pump slips sometimes and causes errors in the program, leaving the washing machine in error mode. I can usually drain the washing machine a while later by running the drain program manually.

I guess due to the change in cycles 50hz to 60hz the drain pump is slipping and has a hard time to start.

I am looking to replace the drain pump to the correct cycle, 60hz. But since the washing machine is running on 220v I need a 220v 60hz drain pump.

Is such pump available in North America? I cannot find them.

Thanks.

I fear you have asked a question far beyond my competence, but I think it is unlikely you will find a 60hZ 220 volt pump.

It may be that your current pump is rated for 60 Hz and you are just having a pump problem. The thing to do is to contact Bosch and get the specs on your machine and your pump, and see if they have a recommendation for changing out the pump is that is what you need to do.

Good luck.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. What about north american washers running on 240/60hz 2phase? I don’t know where to look.

thanks

Ian

I can only speak for the U. S. and I don’t know of any U. S. machines that operate on 220-240v lines.

As I said, it may be that your pump motor is rated for both 50 and 60 hZ so first of all take a look at it and see if it is labeled as such, and if not try to talk to Bosch.

Thanks. The pump is a bosch part number 144192, runs on 230v/50hz/30W. I found the electrical information on the pump itself.

A 50hz motor will run ok on 60hz but will run 20% faster. This may be a problem for the control unit if it monitors pump current as many electronic controlled washers do. I know that Whirlpool has 220 volt 60hz washers for the U.S. market but they are the direct drive version and don’t use electric drain pumps, they are driven mechanically by the main drive motor.
