I have a 1942 Kelvinator refrigerator. I am looking to replace the compressor and the relay. Of course an exact replacement wasn’t found. I found one that suppose to work but really don’t understand the wiring of the relay. Also this compressor suppose to handle 134a. Should I use 134a or r12 if I can get some.
You cannot use a R134A compressor in a R12 system,oil not compatible.
Replacing a compressor is a big, expensive job that the pros charge a lot for.
I would junk the fridg and get a new one which is more that 50% efficient relative to your old one.
