My Amana washer (LW8252W2) is leaking from the top of the drum. The water runs down the outside of the drum onto the base of the washer. The water then leaks out of openings in the bottom and onto the floor.

Is there a repair I can make to the washer to stop the leaking?

Thanks for your help.

If your tub is cracked or broken then given the age of the machine I think you should replace it rather than put the money into some expensive parts.

I do not see any cracks, are you suggesting the wash basket or drum could be cracked? The water appears to "seep" over the top of the wash basket and then drips and runs down the outside of the drum. Is there a gasket or seal around that wash basket/drum or does it sound like I am out of luck?

I assumed from your posting that during agitation water was leaking out somewhere.

If water is splashing out over the top you may have a problem with this part here

Part number: AP4046401
Part number: AP4046401

or you may have a problem with your water level pressure switrch that is allowing the tub to get too filled. See if it changes the water level on lower load sizes and if it maybe fills too much on large sizes.
