My Maytag washing machine made a loud whining noise at the beginning of the wash cycle. I ran in to turn it off immediately and smoke was coming out. It had that burning rubber smell. I replaced the belts. It runs fine until the final spin cycle. Then it skips intermittantly. There is some play in the shaft that the two pullies attach to (one belt from the agitator and one from the pump). I read that there is a way to adjust the tension on the belts but I couldn't find any such thing. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks, Mary Boso
