I have a GE Triton XL dishwasher that was not cleaning the dishes.

When I press start the dishwasher fills with about an 1" of water in the tub during the sensing and washing steps. It then makes a low humming noise but nothing else happens. Water drains at the end of the washing cycle and no water comes in during the rinsing cycle. Drying cycle works. Float assembly works, water inlet valve screen cleaned, sprayer and tub cleaned. What could be the problem? The motor pump or a combination of items? Does this sound like a costly repair or could I be better off buying a new d/w...

thanks for your help in advance...

Model # GSD 6600. I put it in service mode by using the following info: http://****************.com/wp-...hwasher-service-mode.pdf

The detergent module and main pump would not activate.

Please let me know your thoughts if this means the motor pump is the problem and if it makes more sense to buy a new d/w compared to the costs of having a repairman come out diagnose, replace parts and repair a 4 yr old d/w.

Seems strange that the two would be related.
Problem is I cannot get info on GE's, they like to keep their tech's busy.

You seem to have more than one problem.
I would lean towards the control board but the motor humming is a bit of a kicker as it indicates the motor is getting voltage and cannot start.
Unplug or remove power from the unit, reach under it and see if you can rotate the motor's armature with a small screwdriver using the fan fins at the back of the motor. If not you know the motor is jammed for some reason. If it rotates easily you know the motor is toast.

Looks like a motor is about $160.00 so depends on what a new unit costs, what kind of shape this one is in and how happy you have been with this product.

Cannot see your link.
Looks like this site bans it.
Just put an XX before and after the name of the site in the link.
Then I can remove them to get to the link.
Example:
http://XXname of the siteXX.com/wp-conte etc.
