Same issue here. Left hinge has broken a little more than two years into owning it despite babying the machine. Called Maytag and was told the only solution is to buy the door for more than half of what the cost of the machine was/is. Ludicrous.

My Maytag washer is 2 years young. The door at left hinge has broken a second time. First time covered under warranty. This time no extended warranty so new door $500.00. Technician admitted to me he has seen this problem before. He said it is a good washer, to bad about this door issue. His advice just keep it. I asked could he repair hinge so it won't continue breaking door. He exclaimed he couldn't.

A year ago our lid broke at the left hinge and because we had a warranty, got it replaced, no questions asked. The repair tech even agreed with me that it is a bad design and cheaply made. Well it broke again a couple weeks ago, same spot, and this time the repair tech said they’re not going to fix it because it’s our fault and we are negligent. Unbelievable, what corrupt a-holes. This is just the beginning. We’ll be fighting back and I’ll follow up here with details as they become available. Thanks again.

7/8/22 follow up: Now Asurion, the company servicing the warranty, has denied our claim outright and is doing nothing. AND, they don’t even have the stones to provide us with a reason. Not an email, not a letter, nada. What a bunch of criminals.

This ain’t over. I’m going back to Home Depot to see if there’s anyone there who gives a shit. The warranty is useless and Maytag is strangely silent.

This is proof that I the consumer just has to be good at bending over because that’s what corporations like these mean by customer service.

Same here. Almost 3 years old cracked on inside. Reading all this here, I can't believe they haven't sent out new doors to everyone. Going to try gorilla glue, or maybe the hack mentored a couple posts back.

I have the exact same issue with my Washer I bought in 2019. I've babied it along to keep it from breaking more, but the plastic casing is breaking off so bad that I now have to push down on the lid to get it to lock and start. There definitely should have been a recall for these defective lids.

Me too - same thing, purchased a few years ago at Lowes. Left corner hinge plastic broke apart, need to align properly for it to lock. Just crap!
