Having trouble with our gas dryer overheating (running about 190F based on thermocouple). Was sure that the problem was the cycling thermostat so ordered a replacement without checking the original...

Of course the replacement came and didn’t fix anything - testing the original it opens at 155F.

When operating (in any heat setting) I see the internal temperature climb to about 190 before the burner shuts off and the temp drops down to about 100 before it starts firing again. Any thoughts on other components that could be broken?
