I am having problems with a KITCHENAID DISHWASHER Model KUDI01DLBS6. The machine apparently goes thru all the cycles, but is not washing properly. The water barely sprays the dishes in the lower tray and does not spray from the upper portion at all.

I've already taken a look at the bottom filter/strainer and did some basic cleaning. I put it back together and ran it again hoping that that would help some. Apparently it is not quite there yet.

Thanks very much for taking the trouble to read this post. I appreciate any help or comments.

Hello Herman,

Can you tell me which size Torx screwdriver you used to remove the filter cover screws? I need to investigate the same problem you are having, but don't know what sized driver to buy.

Thanks!

herman_the_german and Kwgurney,

Both of you have to check the chopper (#6 on the diagram). This is one of the most common problems with such pumps. You can find some useful information in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...hirlpool-dishwasher.html

Kwgurney, you probably have to buy a set of Torx screwdrivers.

Gene.

Looks like a T15 Torx.

Thanks, Gene I'll see what I can do!

I took the protector off with no trouble, once I did some research. The trick is to pull directly up with needle nose pliers grabbing it from the V section lip that points up.
It looks as is the chopper blade is damaged and I will go ahead an order one. There was some metal debris which might have been part of the blade wrapped around a part of the protector. Also a tine off a plastic fork. Hopefully this will take care of the problem.

I will keep you posted. Thanks everyone.
