My kenmore dishwasher is not draining completely. If I force it to drain 2-3 extra times (taking 6-9 minutes) it will drain the remaining water. I have checked:

  • Filters are clean, even with them removed still doesn't drain quickly
  • Moved hose to instead drain into bucket still didn't drain quickly

I'm not sure how to proceed as fussing with the drain hose exhausted my level of expertise. There doesn't seem to be any obvious blockage in the hose.

The hose goes up the side of the dishwasher then comes back down and heads under the sink, where it goes up again then into a pipe which connects to the other sink pipes and heads out the house. Could air be trapped in the first up/down portion? How would I know or fix that?

What happens if I instead decide not to worry about it and try to drain it a bunch extra during the cycle. What if the heating element is submerged in water during the drying portion.

If you go to the Sears parts site and look your model up then they have part breakdown diagrams.
AppliancePartsPros does sell the parts but cannot show the part breakdowns.

Air in the drain hose should not cause a problem.

If all is clean perhaps you need a new drain pump.

Below is a link to a manual. I am not sure if it is an exact match to yours but the pump system looks the same.
