Really gang. It works perfectly upside down!

I've read most of the forum entries about the common issue with GE Trash Compactors and their cheap motors. This one works perfectly... but only when it's turned upside down or on its side. It's 7 years old. Here's what I've checked so far:

1. Gears - Turn easily and well greased
2. Screws - move freely.
3. Switches - bypassed them and still the same issue
4. Foot pedal - no problem, also bypassed it

If this is indeed the motor (centrifugal switch or stator?) why does it work upside down? I'd hate to replace the motor for $200+ and then find out it was something else...

Thanks,

Dan in Dawsonville GA
