I just had the first load dried. The timer did advance, but the moving speed was about half of what it supposed to be. I set it to 60 minutes. When 60 mins was up, the dial was still pointing at about 30 mins position. So I didn't get a chance to test whether the dial will go all the way to the end and stop there. In the next load, I will set it to half of the minutes and see what happens.
Any idea why the dial went slower than normal?

The timer motor must be faulty. The way you have it connected now, when the dryer is running, there is power to the timer motor all the time which means it should advance normally until it shuts the dryer off.

I see. So the only way to fix it is to replace the timer now. Does it matter which cycle I use right? Will it work if I switch back the wiring and use the auto cycle?

Yes, you should replace the timer. You can switch it back the way it was but you said you never used auto cycle. The only difference between timed dry and auto dry is the way in which the timer motor is powered. In timed dry, it is powered continuously so it just runs for whatever amount of time you set it for. In auto dry, during the mid portion of the cycle, it only receives power when the operating thermostat cycles off. The cycling of the thermostat is determined by how wet the clothes are. As the clothes get dryer, it cycles more so the timer advances more.

Don't know, link doesn't work. We never recommend buying appliance parts from e bay or amazon.

Just an update. Got a used timer, same model. Replaced the original one and so far so good.
