I have a 36-year old Maytag A106 that is making a lot of unusual noises. It squeaks throughout each spin cycle and makes a very loud high-pitched squeal after it completes its final spin and shuts off. It also shakes violently during each spin cycle. The clothes are a little damper than usual after the wash cycle is complete but the machine otherwise works well. The machine has been leaking transmission oil for several years now so I was wondering if these noises are the result of a failing transmission. If anyone has any idea what could be causing these noises, please post. Thanks.
