Hello all,
I am hoping to get some answers to a few questions for my GE side by side refrigerator. I do commercial air conditioning for a living so I am aware of technical and mechanical devices. Here is what is going on with my refrigerator. 2 issues:
1) For quite sometime now, we have been having problems with the defrost cycle. It seems like the defrost cycle will stay on too long and cause everything in the freezer to melt and then re-freeze once the defrost cuts out. I replaced just the defrost sensor and it worked great for a day or two. There are a total of THREE sensors I see in there. TWO at the top of the evap coil, and one at the bottom of the freezer that fits in a well. The bottom sensor looks identical to the other sensor at the top of the evap, but the numbers are different. A google search for the sensor brings nothing up. I want to replace all 3 sensors and the defrost board. Any suggestions on this issue
2) All of this transpired last night when I noticed our milk cool but not cold. Further investigation revealed that my evaporator fan was not running. Luckily I have an old refrigerator in my detached garage that I use for beer storage, so I transferred all the food to there. I took everything out of the freezer and troubleshot. I found the evap motor not turning unless I gave it a spin and even then it ran at a very low speed. The motor is rated for 9.75 DC volts. Measuring voltage with my Fluke meter at the plug, I found the control board sending 13.50 DC volts to the motor. My question is has anyone seen this before? Would sending a higher voltage to the evap fan motor cause it to run at low speed?
I found all of the parts (control board, evap motor, defrost sensor, 2 defrost thermistors) online for about $150 total for everything. I am planning on just ordering and replacing everything, but wanted to chat with some experienced people concerning these issues and if you have ever seen this before.
I have pictures of that would help identifying the sensors.

For starters, replace the evaporator motor and motherboard. The motherboard is not sending a square wave to the evaporator, this is a six pole induction motor that must have ac to run properly and in the right direction.
