I have a 14 month old dishwasher that has a failed bearing on the wash motor due to a leaking shaft seal. I found a replacement bearing 608-2RS and ordered it in Stainless to help stop future corrosion. After some work with my handy dremel tool I got the old bearing off and replaced both bearings on the was motor. However I also need to replace the shaft seal. I ordered a replacement impeller kit through this site (great price, fast shipping) but there is an extra washer over what was originally installed in my unit. Mine has a thick washer pressed into the impeller that the seal runs on; but the kit also came with a thin fender washer type washer that I just can't figure out where to place. Was my unit missing a washer originally or is this an extra that doesn't apply to my dishwasher? If it does need to be installed where does it belong? Thanks for any help.

Here are your parts Pump and motor parts replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL DU1055XTSS2 | AppliancePartsPros.comWas my unit missing a washer originally Cannot comment on this. is this an extra that doesn't apply to my dishwasher? Always a possibility but unlikely unfortunately I cannot find a service manual or a tech bulletin for the pump, for this unit. If it does need to be installed where does it belong? The breakdown in the Pump section does show 3 seals/washers and the order they go on. Are you sure that the metal washer is not just stuck on the back of the impeller? Sorry I could not be more helpful. |

The first washer presses into a rubber cavity in the back of the impeller the second washer would be between the impeller and the seal. I feel pretty confident that this would not allow for any sealing. Thanks for your help if you figure out a definite answer please let me know; otherwise, I think I'll leave out the second washer in the picture.
