My GE side by side will stop cooling and will not start up until I unplug it for at least 5 minutes and plug it back in. It may work fine for 3 to 10 days and it will stop cooling again. Repeating the above works to get it going again.

Any help out there?

Hello,

Sounds like the problem is a bad main control board. In order to provide most accurate advice we need you to verify and repost the model number.

This model number does not come up anywhere. Is this refrigerator made to use in US?

The serial number that you have is correct. This refrigerator has live in the US all of it's life. (what is left of it) It is not quite 5 years old.

The second "J" in the model number DSS25JFPJ is incorrect. That means I can not get the correct part number for the main control board.

Well, I've checked out all similar models and looks like they all have the same main control board.

- The main control board Part number: WR55X10942
Part number: WR55X10942

The label inside the refrigerator says......

General Electric Company
Appliance Park Louisville, KY

I checked the model number again and it is still the same...

Open the control panel and check if there is an encoder (#424 at the diagram).

If there is such part, unplug it next time the refrigerator will stop cooling. If it will start right away then the problem is a bad encode board.
