no cooling, constant compressor fan on, warm compressor, clicking sound followed by buzzing sound every 3-5 minutes for 10 seconds then off. fan on constantly. replaced ptc overload relay and capacitor. compressor resistance within spec. when disconnected for a while, seems to reset something as everything works again, but after a few hours, no cooling and click/buzzing symptoms return. defrost timer?

Compressor resistance will not determine winding status, functional test with amprobe will.
You may have varnish buildup in the compressor causing dropout after warmup period. Amprobe would confirm this.
