Washer is making a loud noise that sounds like two cylinder tubs inside one another spinning metal against metal, bad bearing sound is probably a better way to describe. Any ideas on what is actually wrong or what parts maybe needed

Sounds are very difficult for us to diagnose because we really need to be there to hear the type of sound and where it is coming from.
It probably is a bearing/support issue, and given the age of the machine I strongly suggest you consider replacement rather than attempting a repair.
