Heard warning beeps saw DE (Defrost) light flashing. Pressed System Check Button but DE light continued flashing all night. Checked Freezer and Frig next morning and all was fine. Could the Control panel, Part Number: AP2071577 be bad?

I have a GE with DE light flashing. It indicates there is a problem with the defrost cycle. Possibles: Heater out, wiring short at heaters, bad defrost thermostat. I wouldn't blame the control panel yet.
