I have a Whirlpool top load washer, model LSR7300PQ0, that fills and drains but does not agitate or spin. I watched the washer fill with it on small load and it never quit. I turned the knob to spin cycle, the washer drained but did not spin. There were no weird noises or smells. I tilted the washer back so I could check the coupling and it seemed to be in great shape and I could turn it by hand in both directions. I also checked the clutch/brake assembly and it was warm. Could this be a water limit switch problem? I am not for sure what to check next. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi.

It's seems that you may have more than one problem, which is very rear.
Lets start with the water. It's not clear if it's overfilling and what do you do to stop it?
When the washer is draining open and close the lid.Does it start spinning?

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.

Simon,

Starting with the water.....the washer will overfill if I do not stop it. I have to manually move the selector knob over to spin to get it to drain. While it is draining I opened and closed the lid, several times just to be on the safe side, and it does not spin.

Let's first take care of the overfilling. Remove the cabinet and check the water level pressure hose for cracks and holes. Also, it may just get disconnected from the water level switch.
If the hose checks OK - you need a new water level switch.
