We recently bought a Whirlpool Side-by-Side with in-door ice & water dispensers, Model #ED2NHGXVL. We had it for a about 2 1/2 weeks, and were away for a few days. When we returned, a stream of water came out upon opening the freezer door. I then noticed that most of the contents were completely or somewhat defrosted (or re-frozen) and everything in the freezer was soaked, with pool of water in the bottom bin. We assumed that there had been a power outage, but there were no other indications of that in the rest of the house and the contents of our other freezer were fine. So we are wondering if the freezer malfunctioned, or if there is something we need to know about the ice maker. This is the first time we've ever had one. The ice bin was full when we left, but I thought that there was that flap that shuts the ice-making off when the bin is full. Do we need to do something before going away, or should I be in touch w/Sears or Whirlpool about this problem. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer. Doesn't sound as though it was anything you've done or didn't do. The arm on the IM should shut off the production of ice once it gets to a certain level. Considering the unit is under warranty I would definitely contact your warranty provider.
