Simon. Jump J4 and LINE or J4 and J9? I don't want a light show. :)

Hi.
Jump two wires at the cold control. If compressor starts - replace the cold control.

I jumped the hot line that runs to the cold control to the J4 line that also runs to it. After a few seconds, the compressor kicked on. The condenser fan is running too. I have it running now to make sure it cools.
I'm not looking forward to the install though. I hope running that thermostat wire won't bee too much of a pain. Will i need a new insulating sleeve for that metal wire? Will the old one be hard to remove and reuse?

Hi.
Replace the freezer cold control. You can use the old sleeve.
Good luck.
Simon.
