The Frigidaire dishwasher motor seems to be stuck or fronzen. I just bought a new condo and it had been empty for several months or more. The dishwasher is 4 years old, has power, and sounds as if the motor is stuck or frozen. Is there any way that I can service this myself or do I need professional help. I am handy but don't have experience with appliance repair.
Thanks for any help.

1) kill the power to the unit at the breaker.
2) remove the kickplate (the grill near the floor)
3) there is a garbage disposal type of part to every dishwasher. something is more than likely blocking the blades from spinning. just like a garbage disposal, you need to turn the blades counter clockwise to release the jam. Often this means 1/4 of an inch. A flathead screwdrive may do the trick.

Be sure not to test it for long when it's jammed -- you can burn out the motor.
