Hi, I have an 8 year old side by side. On Saturday, it stopped working and thawed everything in the freezer. I thought the refrigerator side was working, but it also warmed up. On Sunday I pulled it out, cleaned everything off really well (condenser, etc, etc).
It still wasn't running. It was just humming quietly. I turned the breaker off and left it off overnight and then turned the breaker back on Monday morning. The refrigerator and freezer started working again. I put thremometers in both sides and both were holding good, steady temperatures.
It worked perfectly for four days and now it stopped working again. Can anyone help me? I am desperate for answers. I don't want to pay a repairman $100 to tell me that it will cost another $300 to fix it.
It is 8 years old. Does anyone have a clue what it could be???

I would confirm the board is bad by pulling it out (use small pliers to release nylon clips) and check for bad solder connections on the power relay on the back of the board. You can resolder or buy a new board.
