We have an ice maker installed in the door of the freezer-standard with this model. The ice is making and coming out of the maker and into the shoot that delivers it into the glass. The problem is that the shoot is full of ice and the ice cubes stay there and cause it to clog. I have chipped as much of the ice as I can from the shoot but it keeps happening. What can I do? Would a hair dryer work to melt the ice? Would it just refreeze?

Does the ice gate in the door close or it stays open after the lever released?

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Gene, thanks for the info. The chute was totally clogged with lots of ice and I used a hair dryer to melt it. It has been working fine for a few days.

There is not a door that opens and closes in the chute. It is totally open. I cant find the model number.

Do you have any suggestions to prevent it from freezing up again in the future?

There suppose to be kind of a door to keep the ice chute closed when it's not in use. Without the correct model number I'm not able to give you more accurate advice.

The model number is GSC23LSRD SS. It is a GE.
