Dishwasher is making a humming sound when powered on and will not start. Any ideas?

Greg,
Remove the bottom panel and check where this noise is coming from. It can be the circulation pump or the drain pump. Post the results.

Hard to tell but it sounds like it's coming from the drain area. I did remove the drain screens to look at the drain pump blue wheel thingy and it does not go around unless you manually help it. Once it starts spinning the humming stops but as soon as you power off and on again it stops spinning until you help it again. If it sounds like the drain pump what parts do I need and will I need to remove the machine to replace it. Are there any instructions online that would help with the install? The drain pump I have is the original part with 6 paddles.
Thanks

Thanks for your help. I noticed that there was another part listed along with the part you suggested, it was part #AP5323611. Do you know what that is or where it goes?
Also in the instructions you sent there is a suggestion to replace the drain pump cover #165263 and the back flow valve #165262. Do you recommend that?
And finally, in the instructions it says to check the float operation when finished installing. What does that mean?
Thanks again.

Thanks again. The first part is an adapter. I'm not sure what is it for but it would not hurt to order it too, especially because its price is less than a dollar. Regarding the cover and check valve. I would probably order the cover only. Gene.
