I was zipping along set to replace the chopper assembly on my Kitchenaid dishwasher when I got stuck because I cannot get the inlet protector off. I removed the screw to the left which is the only one I see, but it won't budge. Any advice?

Also, the foreign object protector that is showed in the diagrams doesn't seemed to exist in my dishwasher. I've never had it repaired, so I'm puzzling why it doesn't have one.

Here are your parts

If you click on the inlet protector (Item 8 in Section 8) a new oage will open with more views. The third one shows that the side opposit the screw has a clip. So remove the screw and move the protector in such a wat to unclip that side.
Or
it may be stuck in with crud so you may have to gently pry it up.

I do not see a foreign object protector in this pump.Perhaps I just missed it.
