Dryer timer dial is advancing during the intellidry setting before clothes are dry. Sensor light goes from wet (blue) to dry (red) and dyer heat turns off before clothes are actually dry, meaning the drum continue to turn but no heat. I have replaced the sensor bar inside the dryer and timer itself. Not sure what else it could be....

Here are your parts includes two wiring diagrams. Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDE7400AYW DRYER- ELE | AppliancePartsPros.comI would put the dryness control at the top of the list. Disconnect moisture sensor at the board. If it still advances then I would replace the board. If it does not advance then you probably have a short in the wiring to the moisture sensor. Note: that it may also be some crud on a connection to the frame. There seems to be some confusion with this unit when it comes to parts. In Section 2 it shows a dryness board as Item 1 and item 13. I am not sure what is going on here, could be just different revisions of the same machine. |

Thanks for responding! The only thing attached to that sensor board is the wiring harness/plug itself. Are you suggesting I just unplug the harness completely and run the dryer that way?
I did determine that the board I have has the alarm speaker on it, (# AP4044037) so the other board listed/displayed must be for a different version of this same dryer.

No because the timer will not advance in auto with it disconnected.
What you are trying to figure out is if the board is reading the moisture sensor wrong and powering the timer when it should not.
If you can pull the pin out of the plug yo disconnect the moisture sensor.
They usually push in from the back of the plug and a small tab holds them there and prevents them from backing out.
You could also disconnect the plug and measure from the moisture connector to the machine frame. it should be open (infinite ohms). Just be sure that you are on cleam non painted metal. |

The timer advanced and the clothes were still very damp. It appears that the board has gone bad. Since I have replaced the timer, and sensor itself I think it's time for a new board. Thank you for assisting me on this! I really appreciate you responding! Happy New Year!!
