i have a kitchenaid imperial hobart kdi 57a (according to the plate on the door). roll around portable full size dishwasher

it seems to run ok up to 3/4 way through the wash cycle. and while it is washing water starts to pour out the bottom of the door above the kick plate. i open the dishwasher and look at the bottom pan and water is up to the bottom of the arms. is water supposed to go that high?

is there an overflow?? there is only one thing that sticks up in the back with a silver cap about 2" in diameter. after removing the cap i can see that the water level isn't up to the top of the pvc part so it can't drain into that yet.

i checked the seal around the door and there is a flat seal along the bottom of the inside. it is more of a flat strip seal instead of the 1/2' round. i felt the rubber and it is soft and plyable, i would say it is fairly new.

just incase i cleaned all around the bottom seal since it most likely seemed the problem. i can't tell how this seal fits when the door is closed. i would think if it was a small gap the water would trickle. but at this stage it POURS out.

it isn't at the pumping out stage just yet.

the timer seems to be continuing all the way through without stopping

i have pictures of everything if you can help.

this dishwasher was in a house my mom just bought and i don't know the history.

my other half thinks it is because the water is getting moved by the arms and the water is pushed out which makes sense but i don't know why the water is so high inside... if that is it.

UPDATE:
out of desperation i thought maybe it was leaking between the two door panels at the bottom. see pic.
i put packing tape over the area just as a test and it went all the way through prewash, wash and is now on rinse and it hasn't leaked water through the front. so that would tell me it wasn't the gasket that was failing but the seal between the door panels. what do you think? i could put my pinky between the two if i press on it but it was made that way. it didn't look like there was ever glue or seal or anything there.
