Just installed a new soap dispenser on my quiet partner III.
Is the door to the dispenser supposed to open as soon as the start button is pushed? Model # GU2500XTPS
That is what is happening.

No it should not open till the main wash cycle starts.
See the attachment for a tech sheet which shows the cycle timing.

It sounds like a control board problem.
I would check that it latches properly and that just the water hitting it during pre-wash would not open it.
