My dryer would not tumble if it had more than 1 or 2 towels and now it will not heat up at all. Could this be related, or 2 seoarate problems? I am thinking it is the belt and the heating element, but not sure how the tumbler works and if it would keep it from heating.

Here are your parts, includes a wiring diagram. Replacement parts for MAYTAG HYE3658AYW DRYER- ELE | AppliancePartsPros.comYes the two problems could be related. If the motor is struggling to turn the drum then you would also have lower air flow through the unit as the blower is directly connected to the motor. This then could blow the thermal fuse or even the heating coil. Try turning the drum in the correct direction by hand. It should turn fairly easily. You may wan to try this on a couple other dryers to get a feel for it. If it is hard to turn you will have to open the unit up and find out why. If it turns OK then odds are that the motor is on it's last legs. I would find troubleshoot the motor problem first and then check the heating problem. |
