This unit worked fine for 5 years but now is spinning too slowly on spin cycle. RPMs seem to be about 150 or less, leaving clothes almost dripping wet. Does that indicate the transmission needs to be replaced? Thanks!

Operate it with the front panel off. This could be either the belt, the motor, the clutch or the brakes inside the transmission which are not fully releasing. See if you can tell where the problem area is.
