Hi - I have a new GE Profile Model PDRSOMBXARSS (Bottom-freezer) fridge/freezer unit, and am having a similar problem where the vegetables in the crispers in the bottom of the refrigerator are freezing. The electronic thermostat (which I've turned up as high as possible) read 9 degrees for freezer, and 40 degrees for the refridgerator.

I don't have the icemaker function.

Any ideas? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty in trying to repair this myself, but don't know where to start.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it opens and closes when your adjust the fridge temp. If it doesn't you have a damper control problem.
Make sure your model number is correct. I couldn't find any diagrams with it. Model Number Locator

The model number is correct (it's posted inside the fridge on left wall near top), but I too noticed you can't find any reference to it online. I looked up on the GE site, and it looks like the exact model is the PDRSOMBXBRSS (mine shows PDRSOMBXARSS). Perhaps mine was an earlier "beta" model?? http://www.geappliances.ca/jsp/...565=---&cmb_Brands=2

The fridge temp control is digital - one control for fridge, one for freezer. How do I find the flap that is adjusted with the temp controls, and would the flap move immediately upon changing the temp. on the digital fridge temp. control? I just put a thermometer in the fridge (I'm going to take the temp in various spots in the fridge and compare them to the readout). I'll post the results here. Thanks in advance for your help.

It should be moving within a minute after you adjust the temp. You should also be able to see it from the freezer side in the area where the fan is blowing. You should also be able to feel the air moving in the fridge where the air comes in. The vent will be at the top near and behind the controls.

Okay, I took off the cover to the flapper, and it was completely closed. I moved it with my finger a little, then turned both temps to OFF, and then back to ON, and the flapper moved completely open. I moved the temps around, but the flapper stayed open, even after 5 mins. I re-attached it where it belongs and will see what happens.

Also, I put a digital thermometer in the bottom crispers, and it read 32.1 F. Then I moved it to the top shelf, and it soon read 42 F. I had the fridge setting on 45 F, and the freezer setting on 7 F. Any further suggestions? Anything that I can check that might help you diagnose the problem?
