I have a Maytag Neptune electric dryer, model MDE3000AYW, serial 13630439WB that continues to run indefinitely regardless of whether it is set on an "intellidry" setting or a timer setting. Heats fine but just doesn't shut off. I replaced the timer unit -- part number AP4042430 but the problem persists. Is there another place I should look for the problem or did I put in the wrong unit? It was difficult to determine which of several units was the correct one.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
