Yesterday we noticed that the oven on our Kenmore gas range will not shut off. It just keeps getting hotter. It appears to preheat normally, the preheat signal sounds at the correct temperature, but the oven stays on. Using a temperature probe, it went to at least 400 and that is the limit of the probe's range. The "OFF" button will turn the unit off. From reading the forum, it appears that the problem could be the temperature sensor, thermostat, control panel or control board. Is there any way to narrow down the problem?
