Here are your parts Replacement parts for General Electric NVLR333EE0WW Electric dryer | AppliancePartsPros.comI cannot get tech info on GE's. They like to keep everything a secret. Here is a link, check out the sample wiring diagrams (Item 28) for GE. It will at least give you an idea of how they usually wire dryers. With luck you have the wiring diagram for this unit. It may be stuck to the back panel or may be stored in the control console. http://www.applianceaid.com/ge-dryers.htmlYou may have2 problems in the unit. I am assuming that the dryer goes to off, the motor shuts off but the heater stays on. You will see in both sample wiring diagrams a motor centrifugal switch in the L2 side of the line. This switch should open when the motor stops disconnecting L2 power from the heater. If you then look at the L1 side of the heater you will see a set of timer contacts that should open when the timer reaches the off position disconnecting L1 power from the heater. I think one of these are not opening. Also that the element is grounded, it has broken or sagged and is touching the case and therefore is on all time. It then gets power from one side of the line through the neutral. The heater should not do this as it is run on L1 to L2 power and is not hooked to Neutral. The way to check for a grounded element is to unplug the unit. Remove both wires from the heating element. Measure the element usually around 20 ohms. Then measure from each side of the element to the case/frame. Both should be infinite ohms (open) If not you have a grounded element. You often can see it. This should still not cause a problem at off, that is why I think you have 2 problems. There should not be power at either side of the element. I hope the above makes sense. |
