Small leak on left front, under freezer section. Any ideas of how to fix this would be appreciated.

PHK,

Remove the grille plate in the bottom of the dispenser assembly, check for a puddle of water under it, the dispenser could be dripping and filling up the dispenser indentation under the grille.

Remove the kick plate grille, at the front bottom of the refrigerator,
check the water tube connector for a slow drip, and check the tube going up to the hinge and into the door.

Did you check the bottom of the freezer compartment for water or ice ?

Also check and insure that the bottom of the freezer door gasket is sealing to the metal flange.

Good Luck,

:) :) :)

Thank you for your assistance and I will check the things you have mentioned but the bottom of the freezer compartment does have frozen water/ice in it.

OK, After more checking:
The bottoom of the freezer is full of ice and water/ice is around a hole in the back, bottom of the freezer. I also noticed that the cabinet is showing rust around the seams located under the freezer compartment.
The unit is not hooked up to water at all.
I'm thinking I should go and get the ice out of the bottom.
But, what is causing it and how do I prevent it from coming back?

Thanks for your help.

PHK,

Thanks for the update,

The more likely situation is:

A clogged defrost drip pan and or drain tube.

You may also have a leaking ice maker fill tube, but that's pretty remote.

Once you remove all the shelves, and the lower evaporator cover(freezer back wall) you'll be able to distinguish the problem.

You'll most likely find the aluminum drip pan, under the coils, has a block of ice in it.

You'll need to melt the ice with a hair dryer, hot water, etc.

Then with a semi flexible wire or tube , you'll need to clear the drain tube.( a coat hanger works pretty good, but you need to be careful, dont puncture the drain tube) and clear the complete drain tube.

Like I said , it's a remote possibility, but,

Once you get the back wall removed, look for an ice trail or ice cycle, running up the back wall to the ice maker fill tube area, if there's a trail , you'll need to dismantle the remainder of the upper evaporator cover and ice maker, to determine where the leak or over flow is.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
