I'm afraid this is just a temporary fix. What is the complete model number of the oven?

I beleive I have a similar problem with the gas valve on my Whirlpool gas stove/range.
Can anyone tell me do the wires going into the valve just pull out? I don't want to damage the stover any further.
Also are there any instructions anywhere for replacing the valve unit?
