How would I check the solenoid for continuity? Is this something I can do on my own?

The refrigerator is a GE Profile Artica Side by Side, model number PSS26LSRD SS.

This test is very simple. You'll need a simple multimeter which you can buy at any hardware store or Radio shack store. The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter - How To Check Continuity With Ohmmeter.

In order to access the solenoid (#378 on the diagram) you have to remove the ice maker, the ice bin and the motor & solenoid cover.

i saw the post about removing the bar but on mine appears to lift the bar to open it for non-crushed... am i wrong? thx!
