My Maytag Atlantis runs fine and drys fine, however it makes a very loud rumbling noise almost a helicopter noise. What can I do?

You have to take the dryer apart and check the idler pulley and its bracket and spring. The idler bracket could be rubbing against the drum belt making that noise.

Here is the Service manual.

- The idler kit Part number: AP4010261

I would also check the rear support rollers.
Often when one of those goes it sounds like someone left a running shoe etc. in the dryer.
