The timer on our dryer doesn't work, i.e., we can turn the dial to any position and the dryer comes on and dries our clothes fine, but it never turns off. We either have to turn the dial to the off position or open the door. The only exception is when the lint filter is clogged - the machine will then turn off automatically. The lint sensor works fine.

Sounds like the Timer is shot.I have the same problem and have entered the same problem today on 8/11/2010.Maybe we will get a 3rd. opinion.Jimmyds
