Matt,

Did this occur suddenly, or was it a gradual process ?

At this point I would suspect, an open radiant sensor,or coil on the gas valve.

I don't think, you've got a thermostat, thermal fuse or control problem,

Do you have a multi meter to test circuits ?

We will be glad to assist you.

thanks for the response...it did it suddenly...i don't have a multitester.i was thinking maybe a coil,i'm not sure i know what and where the radiant sensor is.thanks for any help.

Matt,

The radiant sensor is located on the side of the burner inlet tube. It looks like a black box,and has two wires(usually black and white)there is also a rectangular cut out in the burner inlet tube,if that helps you.

The gas valve coils, are the black cylinders attached to the top of the gas valve itself.

Without a meter it will be hard to diagnose, and can only be a guess.

If this occurred suddenly, there maybe other components involved, and I am starting to wonder.

Valve coils usually can make a buzzing noise when they weaken or fail,
and usually you notice the dryer begins taking longer to dry.

I don't know where you want to start, but this would be a good spot, without a meter.

I hope this helps you.

Matt,

Good idea, the meter , it will come in handy in the long run.

I have attached a really nice link, it's an information sheet on how a multimeter operates and how to use it.(you may even get the same information with a new meter).

http://forum.appliancepartspros...ghlight=testing+circuits

Both of the components you are going to check are in basically the same area(as I described before)

The radiant sensor is a closed circuit when cool and opens at approximately 1800 to 2000 degrees.

The coils have a consistant resistance if they're good.

The 2 terminal coil should have 1200 ohms resistance, when meter probes are across both terminals.(no wires attached, or at least one removed.)

The 3 terminal coils (numberred 1,2,3, from left to right looking at the terminals should check as follows:
pin 1 to pin 2 should have 1350 ohms
pin 1 to pin 3 should have 550 ohms
allow 10% resistance + or- resistance would still be an allowable range.

Hope to hear you've got it repaired soon
