What does it do exactly before you have to unplug it?

The model number you posted is incomplete. Verify and repost it, please.

How long they were off before you had to unplug the unit?

Try to tap on the thermostat knob (the one on the right side) instead of unplugging the unit.

If everything will kick in, replace the thermostat (#9 on the diagram).

- The thermostat Part number: AP3037004
