Ok, the condenser fan is running fine. So I'm really stumped.
Btw, when I first started this I found that the ice chute in the freezer door had some ice buildup. I removed the instruction panel on the inside of the freezer door and found ice buildup in there too. It took me a while to get rid of it all, and I thought that was going to fix the problem that we've had with the trap door that allows the ice to come thru being stuck open, letting cold freezer air out. But it still is sticking open. We are all in the habit now of closing it with our hand whenever we get ice. Anyway, I wanted to mention the ice buildup just in case. There are electronics in the door, and I don't know if any of them are related to temp sensing or control.
Any ideas on what I can check next?

OK Just to recap both the freezer and the fresh food sides seem OK but the compressor runs continuously. Both condenser and evaporator coils and fans look OK.
All I can suggest is to measure the temperature in the freezer. It should be 0 to 5 degrees F. The fresh food side should be 40 degrees F.
If both the above are OK then I cannot think of anything else.
Low freon could cause the compressor to run continuously but you said earlier that the evaporator coils had a nice even coating of frost when you checked them so I doubt this is the problem.
You did say the door seal was cracked but seemed to seal OK, perhaps double check this. Take a 2 inch strip of paper, place it between the body of the fridge and the seal, close the door and then pull the paper out. There should be some resistance to this. Work your way all around the doors. |
