Good day, all.

I'm a noob on this forum, but I'm glad I found it. Lots of meaty nuggets of knowledge to plunder. Anywhore, to the point.

This raggedy, troublesome, & inefficient offset unicycle has, once again, toiled my brain. It started to dance when spinning, as this chassis is wont to do, so I decided to give the thing a good inspection & tune up while replacing the poorly designed springs.

Wife lady had mentioned that the rig took forever to fill & sometimes not enough. Would trickle water for a bit, stop forever, trickle again, etc. Also reported a LONG delay to start cycle after filling. Researched what to eyeball & went at it.

The filter screens were completely clogged & the valve seats were gunky. Cleaned & replaced with optimal upgrades. Water fills better & faster than ever before.

I peeked at the tube. From the air dome until the last foot, it was clear as could be expected. The last foot shone a bright green... something. I dug around & found this weedeater string all but stuck inside. No mention of anyone else having had this happen on the web so far, so I bounced in here.

Could someone more familiar with these buggers give me some insight? I've worked on pneumatic controllers a-plenty in the oil & gas world & have never encountered something like this. I would venture to say it was intended to be a snubber or maybe act as a diaphragm, but it would be redundant, right?

I'm beginning to wonder if we were sold a reman or returned pile of scrap. I replaced the springs less than a year after purchase & found the front two had no cups to rest in. The wiring also looks to have been previously fiddled with as dust has stuck to old tape resin & doesn't really fit in the control box well.

Anyway, if someone could enlighten me on the green weedeater string's purpose or if I'm the one millionth sucker, that'd be great.

Thanks,
Goose

I swear, I'm as lucky as roadkill, except I keep on living.

A little history:

Bought this lemon 4-5 years ago out of necessity. The 25+ year old Whirlpool died suddenly & I was only home for a weekend before heading back to work for another 6 months. Wife said she was okay with the unit, though later admitted she really wanted a Speed Queen (& we both regret not getting one,) so we bought it & the matching dryer. We hated it immediately, but I didn't have the time to load them back up nor tinker on them, so we have just lived with a slow & sorry washer, thinking it was normal, until now.

Again, I believe we are its second owner or something. Stuff is missing or has been tampered with & it has never ran great, not even on the first run. Now that I've "optimized" it, it runs a helluva lot better, but is still absolute garbage compared to the older rigs. Slower, ineffective, over-engineered, under-performing, built from Crayons & paper clips, & had to nerve to ask $500 for it.

...well, they got me...

Wife agrees, we will drop a G on an old refurbished 1960s rig before we take another one of these for free.

No dice? I was hoping someone would chime in & say I had found a strand of solid tritium or something. I had heard that this place was relatively active so I was hoping for something, anything.
